Summary of The Orientation
Albom travels to Morrie’s house in Massachusetts to meet with him again after 16 years. Morrie asks if “you know that I’m dying.” The author remembers back to his freshman year in college. He remembers Morrie as being a good friend and being soft, not tough. The author had tried to act tough his first year of college, but was always drawn to Morrie’s softness. The author calls Morrie coach and Morrie says “[a]ll right, I’ll be your coach. And you can be my player. You can play all the lovely parts of life that I’m too old for now.”
